Our History

West Chatham Baptist Church was founded in 1999 under the direction of the Holy Spirit by Rev. David Stanford. Rev. Stanford, a native of Pooler, had been on staff at Florence Baptist Temple in Florence, SC for 16 years prior to moving back to Pooler to plant the church. The church would meet for Sunday services at the YMCA in Pooler until they moved to the current location at 1360 S. Rogers St. in 2006. On April 29, 2012, after nearly 13 years as pastor, Rev. Stanford felt it was God’s timing for him to step away from WCBC and begin a new Chapter in his life.

On May 6, 2012, the members of West Chatham Baptist Church called Bobby Burgess as their new pastor. Burgess and his family moved to Pooler in June of 2012 from Hendersonville, NC.

We look forward to what God is going to do through this fellowship of believers in the coming years. We believe God has great things planned for Pooler and the surrounding areas, and we look forward to joining Him in His mission. Won’t you join us?
